A foreigner who stays on the territory of the Republic of Poland legally and continuously for at least 5 years immediately before submitting the application for granting this permit and meets the following conditions jointly:
     
  1. has a source of stable and regular income sufficient to cover the cost of living for itself and for dependent family members;
  2.  
  3. has health insurance within the meaning of the Act of 27 August 2004 on health care services financed from public funds or confirmation of the insurer’s coverage of medical costs in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

  5. has a confirmed knowledge of the Polish language .

This permit is granted for an indefinite period.

Next steps

Submission of application:

The foreigner submits the application in person, no later than on the last day of legal stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland to voivode competent for the place of stay of the foreigner. When submitting the application, the foreigner is obliged to submit fingerprints. In the case of a foreigner who is a minor, the application for long-term EU residence permit is submitted by parents or guardians appointed by the court, or one of the parents or one of the guardians appointed by the court.

Residence status after application:

If the application for a long-term resident’s EU residence permit was submitted during the legal stay of the foreigner and the application did not contain formal deficiencies or formal deficiencies were completed in time, the voivode puts a stamp in the foreigner’s travel document, which confirms submission of the application. A foreigner’s stay is considered legal from the day of submitting the application to the day on which the decision on granting the long-term resident’s EU residence permit becomes final.
A foreigner who has obtained a long-term resident’s EU residence permit on Polish territory is issued with a residence card . This document is collected in person. If the residence card was issued to a foreigner who is under 13 years of age, the card shall be collected by its statutory representative or probation officer.
